What kind of RAM for Titanium Powerbook/iBook G3?

What kind of RAM for Titanium Powerbook/iBook G3?

I need to buy RAM memory, and need to know what kind to get for:

1GHz Powerbook Titanium 15" Dual-Boot

900Mhz iBook G3 12" Dual-Boot

What's the best brand? Do I need to worry about buying a lower-priced or
generic RAM?

Thanks!

http://www.ramseeker.com

is a great "clearing-house" for RAM. They don't sell but when you enter
what machine you're looking for gives you plenty of options, from
cheapo to "name brand." Not sure about the iBook but for the PowerBook
you might want to spend an extra nickle and look for "low heat" as per
Apple specs.

BTW, IMHO there are more groups some more active than the ones you
posted to. You use MT-NW so open the full group list, make a new
"subscribed to groups" window, add all the comp.sys.mac.* groups and
note the counts for messages.

I go to www.crucial.com-- they have a good process for choosing
manufacturer, then model, (etc) and then report on the specific sort of
RAM needed.

Then I print out their page and take it to a local computer dealer-- if
they beat crucial's price I buy from them... if not, I order it from
crucial, who offer high-quality RAM with quick delivery.

When I buy locally-- either from a retailer or 2nd hand, I get a clear
understanding that I can return it if it doesn't work... buying 2nd-hand
locally is a good way to go- since it's relatively easy to bring the
notebook along, install the RAM and see if the system starts up before
paying/leaving.

RAM and notebooks- especially older notebooks-- is sometimes funny...
some RAM seems to work in some models but not in others that presumably
take the same variety of RAM.
