| "Find" misbehaving in OS X 10.46 Funny. I can copy-and-paste a file name direct from the actual file, into command*F or into Spotlight to find it. Sometimes, it will not be found. And that reminds me ‹ what's the difference anyway between Spotlight and Command*F. Are they two iterations of the same engine or are they completely different tools? If different..why? I'm doing this very carefully. There's no chance I'm making some silly error. I locate a file in the Finder and copy its name. Then I hit Command*F, turn "Kind" into "Name", make sure I have "Contains" and paste the file name into the search field. Then I click "Computer" and...nothing. It only happens sometimes. I discover it because I do a search for a file I _know_ is somewhere and it's not found. So I do it the hard way and find it. Then I work backwards as detailed above to see what went wrong with the first search. I'm looking at the file I want, right now. Nothing unusual about it except...it's inside a PGP disk. (an open one, of course. Duh.) If I copy it to the desktop, then it's found. But, even if I click "Others" and specifically choose that disk (instead of just relying on "Computer" it is still not found and neither are any of its "cell-mates." Spotlight is also blind to those files. It's a Nikon ,NEF file. I copied a Word document into the PGP DIsk and it can be found OK. So the assumption is that there is something that causes "Find" and Nikon .NEF files to be incompatible. But what? The machine is a G5 dual 2000 with adequate RAM (4.5 GB) and nothing unusual installed. Runnng DiskWarrior and repairing permissions have no effect. Ideas? -- "I like your Christ.
