CPU consuming kernel_tas process

Hi. I have a G4 17" Powerbook. Running "top -u" in the terminal shows
that the kernel_tas process consumes 10-20% CPU. Anyone have suggestions
on what causes this and how to remedy the situation?

I've tried troubleshooting by disconnecting the network and installing
sidetrack (as some suggest the track pad is the problem). But no such luck.

Br,

Morten
