Needing a little help.

Hi eveyone ! I'm the kind of guy for wich "IBM" means "I'll Buy a Mac".

My problem is simple :

G3 Beige, 9.1

I use Pthotoshop 3.05 (I don't neeed more, simple, fastŠ). I have
installed Photoshop 7 just for a try.

Now, every **** time I save a Photoshop 3.1 file in an image folder or
any other I may crete, it turns to show it as a Photoshop 7 file in the
folder where I've put my file.

This is really a pain because if I open this file with Photoshop 3.1,
it will work, but as soon as I want (for example) change the diameter
of the pencil, it will hang because its gonna lauch the routine of the
Photoshop 7.

The turnaround I found is to convert this file with Graphixc Converter,
open it with Photoshop 3.1 and then it will work. As soon as I save
this file, it will return to be aas a Photoshop 7 file. PfffŠ

Any idea ?

TIA

I use only one version at a time, so this is just a guess: Lots of PS tools
are actually small plug-ins. It's possible the installation of 7 overwrote
the plug-ins of 3.

On the other hand, I know of others who have installed more than one version
at a time, so . . .

Often when you launch a child file of an application by
double-clicking on it the default is to open the latest version of the
application that the OS can find.

Did you try opening 3.1 first and using that to open the 3.1 child
file, then saving it that way? What about SAVE AS...

Yeah, this is "normal"

Sure ! That the reason why I don't understand !

Doesn't change anything
> DMK

Its just when I save the file, even "Save as/Photoshop 3.0", it will
appear as a Photoshop 7 file in the folder window. Something funny, it
will be displayed this way (example) :

Name : Blah blah
Modification date : Today
Size`: 65 Ko
Type : Document €Adobe Photoshop 7.0(alias)

A real painŠ

Thanks for your concern !

I guess that the Finder is setting all your Photoshop files to version
7, and I'm not sure how to correct this in OS 9. You could use File
Buddy to change the "creator code" (? how quickly we forget) to
Photoshop 3 - the codes are probably different.

On the other hand, if you're not going to keep Ph. 7, you could remove
it, and eventually, things will come back to normal.

Re: Needing a little help.

G'day Brett ...

How about:

1) Uninstalling PS7 (to be sure),
2) Rebuild desktop file (command-option as the finder starts - that will
eliminate file associations with PS7 in the desktop database),
3) Install PS3, then,
4) Rebuild desktop again (just to be sure).

Hope that helps,

Mikey Mike
