| problem getting G4 to fill external monitor Sorry if this is an obvious one but I am having difficulty getting my 1 GHz G4 12 inch PowerBook to fill the screen on my 21 inch Pressview if I change the resolution from 640x480. No amount of trying to stretch the screen on the monitor in either direction will get it any larger than about 17 inches. I might add that the vga setting puts the various windows in the screen behind the button bar at the lower edge of the screen and prevents me from using many features which demand pressing on clickers where this button bar is. This problem SEEMS to have started when I switched to Tiger. The monitor is a PRESSVIEW PV2101 and is supposed to have a Max Resolution of 1360 x 1024 but anything like this (looks sharper but) puts the whole into a box in the middle of the screen. I can effectively use even greater resolutions and all fit into the screen of the G4 properly, just not the Pressview. The greater the resolution, the smaller the box in the centre of the screen. Is there a way of disabling the G4 monitor temporarily and trying 'detect monitor' on the display page or is the problem more fundamental? The only other details I can find are: Sync Type: Composite, Separate H Freq/ V Freq: 30-85 KHZ / 50-150 HZ. Unsurprisingly the monitor wont display anything at all if I set it to frequencies in excess of about 85 Hz |
