repeating an earlier post

My Intel chip Mac running 10.4.4 was supplied two weeks ago with what
appears to be the wrong install disks

The need to reinstall came as a result of downloading an upgrade of an
image program from an Apple site

neither overwriting nor clean install or even purging to the lowest level
of the HD and clean install solves the problem

Apple admit that disk one supplied to me with the computer is incompatable
with disk two - disk two appears to be the correct one disk one is not

So if it happens to you ring them and they will post the disk from
America (I hope)

The fear is that this packaging error may affect a large number of Intel
Macs sent out from China or wherever they are packed.

The computer itself is magnificent - and this problem is one of only four
- all till now solved within three hours - in seventeen years of Mac
computing

So I am not all too upset about this slip up. IBM buffs seem to have
worse problems daily!
