Locked out Computer - Technology Questions

Locked out Computer

Hi....

I bought an iMac computer from a school district.
The good news is, the price was right, the bad news
is.... it is locked up my an administrator and I can't
boot up from a start up disk.

Anyone have any tips on breaking thought this mess?
