problems with downloading - Technology Questions

problems with downloading

I have a 1 GHZ Powerbook (Titanium) running Mac OS 10.4.3 and
cconsistently have problems downloading from sites regardless of the
browser that I use. Instead of getting a .dmg downloaded to the desktop,
I get either nothing or an .html to the desktop which then fails to do
anything. An automatic download from Software Update works properly.
