Req: Advice on a workaround; OSX 10.4.3 and OS 9.2.x

I'd like to install the Classic environment on my Powerbook G4 12".
The system and apps DVD that came with it has disappeared. I've got a
OSX Tiger DVD, and I have the apps I need, but the Tiger DVD did not
come with any Classic files. Since the PB I have cannot boot any OS
earlier then 10.3, I am kinda stuck. I can't boot off my 9.1 and 9.2
CDs, I can't run the install off the CDs since that already requires
that Classic be installed, I can't set up the CD or an image of the CD
as the Classic system folder since OSX sees them as read only, and if
I copy 9.2 or 9.1 system folder to the hard drive and try to use that
I get amessage that "this version of Mac OS can only be used from
original media". So I am kinda stuck. Thanks in advance for any
suggestions for a workaround!!

One solution is to get Apple to sell you the discs. But note that there is a
bug between 10.4 and Classic.

Classic is on the original discs, not 10.4. When you try to install Classic,
you get an error that you need to insert the such-and-such disc ... and it's
already inserted.

The workaround is to install 10.3 on an external FireWire drive, then follow
up with Classic. You can literally drag the Classic System Folder to Tiger,
and it works.
