GnuPG help

Just installed GnuPG (like PGP but free) and a few other GUI apps that
make using it possible. I can decrypt fine using the GPGDropThing app,
so I know I imported keys properly, but if I try to encrypt, it just
says "Retrieving keys" forever and nothing happens.
Anyone know what to do?
The develepor site is very hard to find a "help me" address on.
