Hoping for help--OSX 10.39 and Zip 250 Drive

Hello:

For weeks, I have been trying to get a USB Iomega Zip 250 Drive to work on
my Mac Mini with OSX 10.3.9, to no avail.

System Profiler shows the drive as being alive and active.

I have my System Preferences set to "Show these items in the
Sidebar--Removable media (such as CDs)"

Iomega Tools recognizes any Zip 100 disk I insert (I don't have a Zip 250
disk to insert, but this disk supposedly recognizes, reads, and formats
either Zip 100 or Zip 250 disks). It will begin to format a Zip 100 disk,
but will stall midway through and hang.

Disk Utility DOES NOT know that the drive is connected, and will not access
it.

The drive resists all attempts to show itself on the desktop, or anywhere
else.

My ultimate goal is to get my Mac 7100/80 with OS 8.6 and Zip 100 drive to
be able to swap back-and-forth with the Mac Mini, using only Zip 100 disks.
The hang up is that the Mini doesn't seem to be able to show me the contents
of any disk I insert so that I can access the files.

Can anyone help me by shedding any light on how I can get OSX 10.3.9 to
recognize that there is a Zip 250 Drive attached?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Clearly this sounds like there is a need for a driver upgrade. Have you
contacted Iomega?
