| Accessing Mail contents via terminal My Mac at work is permanently connected to the network and I generally leave Mail.app open. If I ssh into my Mac from elsewhere, is there a terminal based way to access the mail that Mail.app has pulled off the server? It would be nice if it had a semi-decent interface like elm or pine but even being able to read it would be handy. It would even be more useful I could delete mail without upsetting Mail.app. Cheers, Duncan. To reply, you'll need to remove finger. |

The mail files are at $HOME/Library/Mail/POP...account...mbox/INBOX.mbox/mbox $HOME/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/.folder...name...mbox/mbox Then run the command mail -f $HOME/Library/Mail/POP...account...mbox/INBOX.mbox/mbox To read your newmail. If you have multiple mail accounts, then repeat once for each separate mail account. Your folders would be in the .../Mailboxes/... path. For more information about 'mail' command see man mail You could look at any number of other text based mail utilities, such as 'pine' or 'mutt'. Bob Harris |
