Record my own beep in OS X?

In OS 9 we could record a sound in the Sound Control Panel. How do I do it
in OS X?

TIA

Dunno! But you can use XSounds to play sounds on events, and it converts
earlier soundsets from 8/9. If you can record your own OS8/9 soundsets (I'm
sure there are converters out there) this may be the thing you want.

Xsounds is available at unsanity.com

Actually, it's called "Xounds" (No first S). I use it and it works quite
well.
