| G4 iBook is shutting down Brand new LT, with Tiger and it is occasionally putting up black box that says I have to restart. When I finally get to restart, several tries to get it up and running, get the "send report" window, I have clicked both report and OK and nothing seems to happen. Any clues for me - other than go back to reseller???? Totus Tuus Claudia |

Since it is new and still under warranty, you can call Apple Tech Support free of charge. It may take a little while to get through to a tech, but once you do, they will probably be quite helpful. That has been my experience. The tech will talk you through various operations to try to diagnose the problem. Rather than hazard a guess or give you my own attempt at tech support, that is what I suggest you do. BTW, for a laptop especially , which gets banged around a bit, I recommend you purchase the Applecare extended support program. That gives you a total of 3 years warranty coverage and unlimited free tech support. Not that I have needed to use the service that much, but it is nice when you do need it.
