| iTunes 4.9 skips Recently I updated iTunes from 4.7 to 4.9. Not a good idea. Now songs routinely skip if iTunes is in the background, which it almost always is. What gives? BTW I'm still running 10.3.9, haven't upgraded to Tiger yet. Memory, processor speed should be no issue (768 MB RAM, 800 MZ). Skips happen no matter what other programs are running. Jim |

I figured in my case, iTunes was just getting too big for my 333mhz G3 iMac (512Mb RAM), with only 400Mb remaining on a 6.0Gb HD. In my case, a song will pause, even with iTunes in the foreground I think, then kick in 3 seconds later. It's only happened with songs that were imported from mp3, but that might be coincidence, as I only use iTunes about twice a week. GW |

What I have noticed about 4.9 is that iTunes' UI gets slow sometimes for no reason I've been able to determine. I typically notice it while using Party Shuffle. I'll see some songs in the upcoming list that I don't want to hear and I'll select and delete them and there will be noticeable pause before the list updates. Normally list updates are immediate. Quitting iTunes and restarting it makes this behavior go away. But the behavior comes back after a while. |

Try it on my G3....jeez, I hadn't noticed that trait until now, but 4.9 is killing me...The scroll wheel on my mouse barely works and the spinning pizza keeps coming up. Anyone know how to retro to 4.8, or .7 or whatever was before this update a few weeks back? TIA, GW |

You guys have reported this to Apple, right? The sooner they learn of it the sooner they can fix it. |
