Mac emualtion on PC?

Hi I have been trying to figure out how to install a mac rom image as
per instructions for softmac.(The instructions dont tell how)
I have downloaded a mac rom image. I have the OS cd roms.
When I try to install the softmac program I get the error:
"Unable to install roms"
"error starting emulator"
Does anyone have experience with this ?

There can be problems transferring Mac-usable files across the Internet
and between PCs; as a result, getting a downloaded Mac ROM that way can
be problematic.

I don't have a good 'fix' for this... the best way is to make your own
Mac ROM from a real early 1990's-era 68030 or 68040 Mac.... this, of
course, requires access to a working Mac of that era.
