| G3 and hard drives I have an oppurtunity to get some G3 350's for fairly cheap, but they will not have hard drives. My question is, being not real familiar with Macs, did the G3s use standard IDE hard drives? If so, what is the maximum size that you could put in one? Thanks. |

Yes. 120GB is the largest drive (technically something like 137GB, but I don't recall any drives listed at that specific size). And there were some models that wanted the OS to be within the first 8GB os the drive (it was a firmware thing). The rest of the disk could be data. Bob Harris |

(unless these are iMac G3 350s); either way, they take standard Ultra ATA/33 hard drives... shouldn't have maximum size limitations, though you MAY find that you need to install OS X into a first partition of 8 GB or smaller. =============================================== remove 'nospam' when replying |
