How to connect a Window PC and a Mac with a network cable

Hi,

I am coming from Window so I have no idea how to do it. I use my note (used
to be Window machine) as mobile storage when I am taking picture (the camera
is a EOS-10D if you are interested). When I am home, I will connect the
notebook to my desktop using a network cable and transfer all my picture to
the desktop (yes, I will still be using a Window desktop). Thanks in
Advance.

Plug an ethernet cable into both machines. They are now connected.

To share files, set up one machine to share a public folder, and set up
the other to access it.

To see details of how to do this, see the Mac OS Help file on the Mac.

Mac OS X can access a windows network directly, can access shared
folders on Windows machines, and can share folders for Windows to
access. Of course you have to have to set correct access privilaeges,
password, etc.
