Java application won't start on OS X if apps limited

I have a Java application that won't run for non-admin users
with restricted applications (no matter which applications are
allowed/disallowed) on Mac OS X 10.2.8. Not even the first
line of main() gets executed - the program simply quits with no
error message. There is nothing special about this program -
it doesn't use any JNI, but it is medium sized - 200KLOC or
so. A small test program that just prints a line does work, so
it is not a problem running Java applications. Is there any
way I can find out why it won't run (which restricted
application attempted to run - if that is what happened)? Or
does anyone have any idea why this would happen. Worst
case I will chop the program up and put it together block-by-
block until the problem shows up.
