Apple Hardware Test Issues

Hi all,

Please understand the cross posting. I'm not sure which group would be best
so I decided on these four.

My daughter was having problems with her firewire drive on her 2001 iMac
Dalmatian 500. The connection was sometime dead and sometimes erratic. The
monitor also had a previous issue with a green tint. After finding out that
the firewire drive worked on a different computer I decided to run the Apple
Hardware Test CD version 1.1. assuming it was the iMac with problems.

While doing the logic board test, it would stop and give the following
message:

DEFAULT CATCH!, code=300 at 002f8aec %SSRI: 0003030

Apple PowerMac 4, 1 4.1.9f1 BootRom built on 09/14/01 at 13:18:04

Welcome to Apple Firmware, the system time and date is: 10:08:31 04/17/05

To continue booting, type "mac-boot" and press return.

ok

After typing mac-boot, the screen would go to a light purple color for
approx. 45 seconds and then turn the standard light gray for approx. 50
seconds and then I would get the next message:

DEFAULT CATCH! code=900 at %SRR0: 01c0f760 %SRR1: 00003030
ok

Can someone give me some idea what all of this means and what would be the
best move to make? THANKS!

Steve

It doesn't list your model as affected, but it sounds awfully familiar.

Even though I think your question is disingenuous, I'll answer it.

Usenet has text-based groups and binary groups. In text-based groups,
such as this, html comes out all gobbledy-****e (as in the lines I
quoted from the OP, which you have snipped).

cheers,

Henry

I believe people using Unix based newsreaders or some other non-GUI
launched readers, or just plain old programs have all the HTML tags
appear in those messages, that are posted in HTML, making them
essentially illegible. I never have any problems with those posts using
Mozilla, but to be curteous to others, I have the "compose in"
preference set to text, not HTML.
I do that with email to, btw. People waste too much bandwith when they
don't need to.

Sorry about that! I checked my preferences and it still says that my
newsgroup preferences are set for plain text. Not sure what happened.

BTW

Can anyone give any advice about the original problem in the posting?

Steve
