| Using eMail All, I am somewhat unfamiliar with using the eMail client that came with my G5. Here are some questions where I could use your help. I am most familiar with using the Microsoft Outlook client. With this client I can easily move eMail messages into and out of Microsoft Outlook. For example, I can easily take an eMail and move it out of Outlook and store it in other locations such as MyDirectory, PST files, discs, etc. I do not appear to be able to do similar things with eMails contained within the Macintosh eMail client. For example, I am not able to drag an eMail out of the Mac eMail and into one of the folders located in the Finder. Question: Is it possible to move by dragging (or otherwise) eMails into or out of the Mac eMail client. Or, are all eMails basically "stuck" there. Many thanks for your help. |

I never use that client, btw. It's lame. Mozilla (www.mozilla.org) is my choice. GW |

You can also cut and paste text between Mail and other applications. Bill -- To send e-mail, remove .invalid |

| Re: Using eMail Many thanks for the advice - it works. One associated question. Sometimes I like to do the opposite; by that I mean moving other files INTO the eMail client. That is, I take data from non-eMail files and move them into the eMail client's database. For example, in the Microsoft world I take files out of MyDirectory and move them into Outlook. Can I do something similar in my G5. For example, move something our of the Finder and into the eMail? | Re: Using eMail I don't think you can to that directly. You can of course attach any file from the Finder onto an email message, and then file that in the email database. You can also copy and paste text from another file to the body of an email message. In fact, I like it better than any other client on any other platform that I've used. It leaves a lot to be desired, but its also relatively young. I most like the fact that its fully Cocoa, which makes it real fast and allows it to integrate well with other features like Address Book and Safari. All of the Mozilla stuff that I have tried is good, but its always real slow on the Mac. On windows, however, that stuff can't be beat. Not to be argumentative, I just think alternative viewpoints are a good thing. -- |\/| /| |2 |< mehaase(at)sas(dot)upenn(dot)edu |
