Watching TV via a MC Mini

I am a Mac newbie. My daughter just bought me the "pimped out" version
of the Mini, and I already had a Dell 20" UltraSharp DVI monitor laying
around. I would like to put the Mini set up in a location where a small
TV now resides. I have Comcast cable, so I can easily acquire a
Motorola 620X STB with firewire. I have read many postings and articles
about using the Mac as a DVR with the Motorola box. My uneducated
question is this: Can I use this set up to simply WATCH TV? I am not
much interested in time-shifting (yet).

You'll need to add a 3rd-party gadget such as EyeTV
(http://www.elgato.com/) (US$149)
