File Transfer with Rretro Twist!

I finally got a G5, thinking I would be able to use my SCSI adapter
cards(Adaptec 2930/29160N). Wrong! the PCI slots are different sizes
(silly me!)

My previous system was a PM7600 w/a NT G4 450 that had 3 50 GB SCSI
drives of info. I WANT some of that stuff!

Ive been a Mac'r since the '128' days. Seems like previously you could
transfer files via Ethernet. My 7600 doesn't have a firewire PCI.

Other than putting everything on a CD-R, what are my options?

The G5 has PCI-X slots, which are longer and deeper than a normal PCI
slot, however, they are *supposed* to be backwards compatible. The card
be be required to run at 3.3v though to work in the PCI-X slot. Some
cards however have longer "fingers" and go too deep in the PCI-X slot
and cause problems.

Says the 2930 will not work, but the 29160N "will fit into PCI or PCI-X
slot but have only been tested minimally in the Power Mac G5".

I have transferred files from a G3 Mac to a G5 using a standard Cat 5
Ethernet cable, which I got at Radio Shack. Look on P. 38 of the G5 User's
Guide or search for "Ethernet" in MacOS Help on the G5. It is especially
easy if both machines are running OS X, but in any case is isn't very hard.
