| Help Needed to Correctly Turn On Virtual PC/Windows XP All, I have recently installed Virtual PC/Windows XP Home on my Macintosh G5. The program seems to work well; however I am not sure about the right way to go about starting the programs - at the moment I am somewhat RANDOMLY pushing buttons. Here is what I see on the MAC. After installing the programs a "Start" icon was installed on the Dock of the Macintosh G5. The "Start" ion has the picture of two screens on it. Now when I push the "Start" icon I see the following 6 lines of commands which are in bold letters: Set Program Access and Defaults, Windows Catalog, Windows Update, Programs, Documents, and Settings. I also see the following commands in light letters (the are disabled): Search, Help, and Run. I have tried the 6 commands in bold letter and none of them appear to be the best way of initiating the PC/Windows programs. I would really appreciate some advice about how to correctly start these very useful programs. |

Typically once an application has been installed, it appears in the Start menu in Windows. If you've never used Windows before, you should probably pick up a book on the subject. -- Jerry Kindall, Seattle, WA <http://www.jerrykindall.com/> Send only plain text messages under 32K to the Reply-To address. However if you want an oft-used program to remain on the desktop drag it there. Documents and Settings is probably where you can decide when booting to have the Mac desktop or PC desktop. Remember, learning something new does keep you young and switching back and forth between a Mac and PC can keep you healthy! |

I think you are confused by the very useless start-button-in-dock feature. Switch it off in the VM settings and then start the Windows VM and use the start button inside Windows to start these and other programs. -- Andrew J.
