I just bought a Sony Cyber-Shot P200 with a Merkury memory card reader.
How can I upload my picture from the memory card reader (or even from
the camera itself) into photoshop??

I hate using iPhoto, and really want to be able to manage the
downloading from my camera using Photoshop, but it's not as easy as it
was with a PC (automatically recognzied the camera for importing).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Set iPhoto not to open when the camera/card reader is attached.
Navigate the mounted volume that is the card and drag the pics to where
you want them.

Worked like a charm. Thanks. For some reason I didn't think it
mounted the camera, but thats a lot easier than iPhoto or Photoshop.

Instead of iPhoto, I use Image Capture to download pictures from my digital
camera. Image Capture allows me to download every image, or to choose the
ones I want to download. Then it puts the image files where I want them.

I don't have a Sony digital camera, but I do use PS CS with another
digital camera. What I do is just open the memory card which I plug in
via a firewire card reader and copy the photos to a folder on my Mac's
hard drive, then I start up Photoshop CS and use the image browser to
open up that folder and than the images within it. Its a simple process.
