sandisk cruzer mini [256 MB]

I have a sandisk cruzer mini [256 MB], it is a USB 2.0 flash drive,
FAT32. It works in my friend's Mac [not updated to 10.3.7], but not in
the Macs at my college [all are updated, as far as I am aware, and
administrator has tried with no progress]. Mounts fine on all PCs that I
have tried, even in USB 1.0/1.1 ports, but on the updated systems, it
doesn't work.

It comes formatted as a PC drive. If you don't need to use it with a PC,
then put it into one of those Macs that does recognize it and reformat
it as a Mac drive.

I move mine back and forth between my USB 2 G5 and my USB 2 Pismo all
the time.

Mine came formatted PC (both a Sonnet Piccolo 512 and a Lexar 1GB Jump
Drive), and work perfectly well in both worlds.

If the Mac can see it in the Disk Utility, try formatting it "MS-DOS File
System".

If still no go, try running the OS 9 Disk Utility and doing the same.

I had the same problem with my Cruzer Mini 256 on my MacOS 9 system. I
searched
the SanDisk.com web site and found a FAQ indicating that certain early
versions of
the Cruzer Mini 256 had this problem. I was able to send it back to them
for a free
replacement. I don't know if this was only a problem with OS9 or if the
FAQ is
simply out of date...

https://www.customernation.com/pls/p...&p_parm=PSHFAQ

They also indicate on their FAQs that some MacOS X versions need an update
from Apple's
web site to support USB drives...

I brought mine that had this problem to the Apple store today. The
guy there told me that next time I put it in, when it starts
complaining, I need to press ignore, then open up the disk management
and do a verify, and if there are any errors, repair them. I will try
this in my class on thursday.
