OS 7.1 & OS 9 on the same Mac ????

I have a beige G3 running OS 9 - No Problem. Beautiful machine, Beautiful
OS. (If a deal slower than the PC I am forced to use at work...)

I don't want to go into detail but some years ago I spent a lot of money on
some MIDI software. (Cubase Score V 1.0 to be precise)

Cubase 1.0 will not run on OS 9 & I don't have the cash to upgrade Cubase.
( & Hey, I'm used to it and it works well on my LC 575 so don't knock it...)

So here's the thing:

Can I & if so how do I install OS 7.1 on my G3 running OS 9 and keep both
OS's?

My brother gave me the G3 and now has a G5. He has lost his OS 9 disks so I
can't reinstall it.......

Can I do this.???????

T.I.A.

I had several OS on a Perfoma by having the internal HD
partitioned,(each partition with a different OS) or you can have an
external drive with a different OS installed.

Not on a beige G3, because it can't run anything earlier than OS 8.0;
and not on an LC 575, because it can't run anything later than OS 8.1.
The only Macs that can bridge the System 7.1 and the OS 9.1 eras are the
first generation Power Macs from 1994 -- the 6100, 7100, and 8100 -- and
you really don't want to run System 7.1.2 *or* OS 9.1 on any of 'em.

To see which Macs can run which OS versions, download Mactracker
