Printing under classic in OSX

Well,

tried everywhere else - maybe an answer here - installed WP3.5e to run
in OS9, turned Appletalk on in OSX, HP all in one printer installed
under OSX is recognized but will not print without being on a network
according to classic. Turned printer sharing on and everything I could
think of - is there a place to turn appletalk on in classic? Nothing
listed under chooser. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, I can't print in Classic either.
I always copy-paste whatever into OSX Appleworks then print.
I know that doesn't help much, sorry.

Hi
Does your HP printer have an OS9.x driver? If so, install that. I can
print successfully from classic using WP3.5e to my Brother HL-1430 laser
printer. In the Chooser (under the Apple Menu in Classic) choose your HP
printer. You can also turn Appletalk on here, but you have to go to OSX
network preferences to turn it off.

Do not run in classic, just boot up in OS 9.

Try booting in OS 9 and set up the printer there (assuming it has OS 9
support). This works for Outlook 2001.....

When I installed printer software for my Epson, the installer ran automatically
for OS X. I can't boot in 9, so I opened the driver software package, found the
OS 9 component and ran it. WP 3.5e now prints fine in classic. I wonder if your
HP software has a similar configuration.

BTW at http://wpdos.org/macintosh there's great instructions on how to make a
"Print to PDF" facility for WP and classic, using Adobe's free PS driver.

This is probably my problem. When I switched from OS 8.6 to OSX with
OS9 as Classic, I had printer problems, so I got the Driver for OSX, and
then it stopped working in Classic. I'll likely need to look at Epson's
site for something, I try just booting in OS9 and reinstalling my (very)
old CD.
Interesting how OSX ads like to say "no drivers necesarry" but all my
peripherals work better, after finding their specific drivers, from the
manufacturers.
