Problems with airport express

I've not used what the family call the spaceship for a few months and
now it's not working at all.

Airport setup assistant says unable to configure

Airport admin can connect to 10.0.1.1 and it looks like the same box.

Internet connect says unable to get status so I can not use the modem.

Any ideas what to try?

Assuming you're talking about an AirPort *Extreme* base station, try
power cycling the base station, setting your Mac to use DHCP on
Ethernet, and connecting your Mac to the base station with an Ethernet
cable before launching AirPort Admin Utility.

Of course you are right, extreme. I'll go steal<<<<<borrow an ethernet
cable from work and try it.
