I've got a client who wants to basically move off of Windows/Exchange
and primarily over to Mac. He's got Windows servers for Exchange and
Linux servers for everything else (VPN, file sharing, etc).

I've been looking around for a good solution to replace the Exchange
server-side groupware he's used to working with, and not coming up with
any brilliant answers. Lotus Domino is hard to set up and the Mac client
is poor, from what I hear, and I know nothing about Novell Groupwise.
I'd just as soon avoid a monolithic solution, anyway, but I'm not sure
what the alternative is. For email, we can use IMAP (and therefore Apple
Mail, or whatever); for address book, we can use LDAP/Open Directory
(which I have no experience with, but I know it's available), for
calendar, I don't really know what to do at all. Ideally, it would be
something hostable on Linux, though Mac OS X Server could be used if it
needed to be.

Does anyone have any bright ideas as to what a Mac shop might really do
to have a primarily server-side, collaborative email/address
book/calendar system that functions anywhere close to the way Exchange
