How to ditch the disk

This is a modified cross-post I made to the homeworld group. There's
not a whole lot of traffic there, so maybe I should have asked here in
the first place...

When I try to initialize HW2 to play, I'm prompted to install the game
disk. Is there a way to run the game otherwise, say by installing the
whole disk on the hard drive? I'd really appreciate knowing how. I've
tried to do this without success. I still get a prompt to install the
DVD. There's probably an obvious way to do it that has escaped me. On
one try I was told that some files could not be copied. The DVD does
not open to files but to a graphic, the files seem to be hidden.
