| iMac accessory questions Well, this isn't really specific to the new iMacs but that is what I'm looking at so in case there are iMac specific caveats ... The airport extreme card & the bluetooth card are both things that I know eventually I'd want but not immediately and would rather not spend the money right away if I don't have to. After reading up a bit, it sounds like the bluetooth needs to be installed when I buy it but that I can add the airport card later myself, is this correct? Thanks |

The Airport Extreme card, on the other hand, is relatively easily installed later on. It's actually quite easy to open up the G5 iMac, though there's not much that's user-upgradeable inside-- pretty much the Airport card. the RAM, and the hard drive. ======================================= remove 'nospam' from email address before sending, please! Plenty of after-market Bluetooth modules to add later. However, if you do a Build To Order (BTO), there IS a price break on the module, keyboard and mouse from Apple, as opposed to buying later! -- Brian Ehni Unraveling the Truth about Fahrenheit 9/11 & Michael Moore http://www.fahrenhype911.com/ |

I mean no matter what you do, the machine is going to have at least one wire leading to it (the plug,) why not a second wire for the keyboard? I got my iMac with the airport extreme simply because my cable modem connection is on the other side of the house and the cost of professionally installed wiring was about the same as buying a router and airport card... (about $100.) |

If my choices were "get it now or never", I'd like to konw that, eh? : machine is going to have at least one wire leading to it (the plug,) why : not a second wire for the keyboard? Who said it was necessarily for a keyboard? |

(about $100.) The "deal" is that you can ALSO use it to synch your Palm, send a job to the printer, and do other things which also require wires nowadays. -- Brian Ehni Unraveling the Truth about Fahrenheit 9/11 & Michael Moore http://www.fahrenhype911.com/ |
