can't Empty trash--can anyone help?

Can anyone help?
I'm running SYS 10.2.8 I dragged a folder called rar to the trash. I
can't empty it or move it out of the trash. I tried changing ownership
but it didn't work. I tried an app. called Batchmod, but it didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Marc

A restart should take care of it. Sometimes it's too much work trying to find
what app is using the file and forcing it to quit so it's just easier to
restart.

Have you tried "rm -rf foldername" in the terminal?

Usually, it's a user app and not a system app, so a logoff/logon
should also work, which is faster and easier than a full reboot.

If all that fails, try Onyx (check macupdate or similar for the location).
Besides doing all the cleaning etc you could need it will force the trash to
empty. There are others that do the same, but this is free.

Alternatively ... learn some unix and hit the terminal (I use Onyx ... it's
safer!)
