Unable to install OS9.2 in a second HD partition in my ibook

Hi

The first partition contains OS10.3.4

I tried unsuccesfully to install OS9.2 in the second partition in my ibook.

I can boot the ibook with the OS9.2 Cd but when I try to install it on the
second HD partition, a message appears that I can't install it in this
computer and I have to read documentation if I want more informations.

What's the problem ?

Thanks

Marc Legare

Which OS 9.2 disk do you have? Is it a CD for a specific Mac model? If
so, then you can only install that copy onto the same model Mac that it
was sold with.

Some Macs can only install OS 9 to a partition contained within the
first 8G of the disk. I don't know if this is the case with your
model, but it is a possibility.

Also, is that partition properly formatted as HFS or HFS+? I'm
pretty sure OS 9 won't boot from other kinds of file systems (like
DOS/FAT or UFS).

Are you aware, however, that you can install OS 9 to the same
partition with OS X? The Startup Disk control panel will let you
choose which one to boot.

If you really don't want OS 9 on the same partition, you can probably
install to the OS X partition and then drag the System Folder to the
second partition to make it start up from there. If your Mac can
boot that partition at all, it should work. Systems 1-9 are very
easy to copy to new media.

Another possibility is that it is somehow "seeing" the OS 10 install, and
will let you by doing a "clean" install of 9.2 (using the "Options" button)
