Please help non-mac guy unzip files???

Fellows:

I am NOT a mac person (always a PC one). But I must say... os x has
been impressing me for quite some time now.

Recently I purchased an iBook for my daughter because her laptop PC
was crapping out. She (and I) just love the iBook.

She wanted me to move her documents and music (iTunes stuff) to the
iBook so what I did was use pkzip to create several zip files on the
PC that contained her files from a starting directory recursed all the
way down and retain the directory structure. Finally I ftp'ed the zip
files over to her iBook. Done!

Now I need to expand and recreate the directory structure but I cannot
figure out how.

I've tried the Macintosh HD gui but it did not seem to retain the
directories. I've also tried unzip, gzip and what ever else I could
find but I saw NO options to retain the directory structure.

Can someone please provide a sound and easy method to accomplish this?
Her version of OS X is 10.3.x (latest updates).

Thanks all,

Bob

Try ZipIt <http://www.maczipit.com/index.html>. It is supposed to
recognize directory structure and to be "fully compatible" with PKZip.

What have you tried doing? iBooks come with Stuffit Expander
pre-installed, which should unzip automatically when you double-click a
Zipped file.
