Help needed updating 8.1 to 8.6

I am using system 8.1 on my PowerMac but because I need to install
AppleShare 3.8.8 the system is calling for system 8.6. I searched apple
website and was very elated when I found a link for system 8.6, but this
soon turned into disappointment when I tried to update it because it says it
only update 8.5 to 8.6.
Any advice....any help?? Please!!

Regards

Go to
http://www.megamacs.com/v1/index.php...ction=view&pid
=925093, http://www.macresq.com/store/detail.php?prodID=P004701, or eBay
and buy a copy of 8.5 and then upgrade to 8.6. It is not a free OS, only
the upgrade.

A bit of explanation. In the Classic OS, the "full" number (i.e., 6, 7, 8,
9) had to be purchased, as did the "half" numbers (i.e., 7.5, 8.5). Other
releases were considered enhancement or bug fixes and were free* (i.e. 7.1,
7.5.5, 7.6, 8.1, 8.6, 9.1, 9.2.2).

*Free to download; CDs were available for a fee.
