Problem with Installer?

Every time I try to install a program (any program, not just one), the
installer program freezes on the Licence Agreement screen. I hit
Continue - and then nothing happens. It just sits there. Won't respond
to anything, and I have to Force Quit. Presumably something is
corrupted. Any ideas how I might fix this?
