| Quicktime Pro help Once again, I have something that I have no clue how to use and cannot find any explanation I understand anywhere in a Help menu or the web. I have upgraded Quicktime to "Pro" because I thought it might be fun to use.....but.... Let's say you have two small mpeg video clips, How do you put them together into one movie? Can you? I can't figure it out. GW |

Open your two clips; with Clip 2 foremost, press Command-A (Select All) and then Command-C (Copy); bring the other clip to the fore and move the playhead to the end of the clip, then press Option-Command-V (Add). I did it again and got the same thing. I do notice that Cut, Copy, and Paste are never selectable in the edit menu. This of course would make one think I didn't have PRO, but obviously I do, because I was able to add something (although, not what I want) to a clip. GW |

Convert the mpgs to QT .mov files (use the export function for this) and then try it. If you have time, some day, maybe you can post how to keep the audio track when converting from MPEG to .mov? Thanks again, GW |

The best way I've seen so far (that doesn't involve an expensive video program) is mpgtx. It's a command line unix open source solution you can install using fink. You can't directly join mpegs in QT (even the pro version). They removed that capability (I believe) in some prior version of QT. -- Verne |

To correct this problem, run the command: sudo gcc_select 3.3 Well, that sounded easy enough, but the response to "sudo gcc_select 3.3" was that it doesn't know what sudo means. I fear I am in verrrry deep water here and cannot swim. If someone much more proficient with this stuff would like to help me, I would greatly appreciate it, because mpgtx looks like a killer app. Thanks, GW |

The super important thing to do here, is to ALSO get the program Fink Commander, that is on the intall package, but doesn't mount automatically. Fink Commander is a GUI version of Fink. Now even a dumb-ass like me can do it! Anyway I installed mpgtx using Fink Commander, and well, mpgtx, which is supposed to join mpg files (from a command line Terminal), doesn't work very well. If you join the same two mpegs over and over again, you may get a good result eventually, I guess (?). any and all input welcome and appreciated, GW |

It would appear that mpgtx works well, I just had one or two mpegs that apparently have something wrong with them and don't join well. GW |
