| Editing Address Book.addressbook Hi, When composing a message in Mac Mail application, I start wrting the name/address in the To: box, and Mail opens up a popup with emails I previously sent mail to, and match what I already typed. (A blessed feature, of course). Now, a friend of mine changed her email, and I want this completion feature to forget the old one. I managed to figure out that these emails and names are found in the file Address Book.addressbook, but I can't find any editor for it. Can anyone help? Thanx Yaron Tadmor |

Click on it to open it. That in turn opens the address book file in editable form. Go to the record you want to edit. Click on the Edit button, then click on the field you want to edit, make the changes, then click on the Edit button again, and you are done. Bill -- To send e-mail, change <invalid> to <earthlink> |

Anyway, this doesn't work. I am mystified by your statement about having only one contact showing in the Address Book app, and that "Anyway, this doesn't work." Is it possible that you have the view selected to show only the current record (card)? In the upper left corner of the Address Book application window, below the three colored buttons, there should be a little selector button with two elements, the one on the right being simply a rectangle, And the one on the left being a rectangle with some horizontal lines beside it. The left one, with the little lines, should be selected to display the Address Book in three columns, the left column showing Groups, the next column showing names of each person, and the right column showing the content of the selected record. There should also be at the bottom of the window a number showing the total number of cards in the database. Maybe I am completely misunderstanding, but what you are trying to do sounds like a perfectly normal address book task. It should work fine. Have you consulted the Address Book help file? It is possible that the Address Book application is somehow broken, or the preferences are corrupted, and so it is not working right. There are various methods of checking that. Is your computer still under warranty, or do you have Applecare? If so, you can get free telephone tech support from Apple, and the tech support person will talk you through diagnosing and correcting the problem. The whole things really puzzels me, since the adress book file simply doesn't contain all the contacts I have auto-completion for in Mail. > Try Window>Previous Recipients > Find the email or delete the lot and see if the email comes up again I don't have a "previous recipients" item in the window menu (I looked of couse in the Mail menu, and the Address book menu). |

Okay, I definately have that in my version of Mail, 1.3.9 (v619), and OSX 10.3.5. If you are running 10.2.x then I remember the same panel being there but it may have been called sometheing else, similar but different. Until I can find a version of Jaguar to check it exactly, all I can suggest is to look through the menu's in Mail and look for something that sounds likely. If I find it I'll post back. Regards Tez |

Is there a way to move them to my address book? |

As I dont use 10.2 and it appears that the Mac users I know are on OS9 or 10.3 I cant confirm it but you should be able to highlight the address you want in the address history window, then click a button that should be worded something like "add to address book" and that should do it. If it's not a button then it may be a command in one of the drop down menus once the address history is open. Tez |
