iPhoto Library trouble

When I create an album, the pictures I put in an album also stay in my
iPhoto Library. My library has about 700 pictures, even though I
already divided the pictures into separate albums. But if I delete a
picture from the library it is also deleted from the album. Does this
sound right to anyone!?!

The photo is always in the library, until you delete it. When you put a
photo in an album, all you are really doing is putting a pointer or
alias of that photo in the album.

That means what you are seeing is normal behavior: When you delete a
"photo" from an album you are only deleting the alias or pointer to the
actual photo; the photo itself remains in the library (unless you tell
iPhoto to delete it).

When you delete a photo from the library, it is indeed deleted
altogether.

Another consequence of this setup is that you can put one "photo" in
several albums. This can be handy.
