| web browsers in Classic vs. in 9.2 This is on a 1999 333mhz G3 w/ two 256 RAM Edge cards.... If I boot in OS9.2.2, and run a web browser (Netscape 4.7 or IE5), it works just fine. (Believe it or not, if you want just text from websites, Netscape 4.7 is still the best web browser) If I boot in OS10.3.4, and run a either of those web browsers in "classic", it will not load 90% of the URL I enter. For instance if I type http://www.google.com the status bar says "www.google.com contacted....waiting for reply" but nothing ever happens. Is this some sort of TCP/IP problem with the Classic mode? How can I fix it? TIA, GW |

| Re: web browsers in Classic vs. in 9.2 I do, normally, but there are certain sites that you can essentially submarine through by using a browser so old that it ignores all the latest code telling it what to _DO_, and just view the content, (not the presentation......the original purpose of HTML). I have since heard that Classic is known to have TCP/IP limitations, from a local Mac guy. Lynx doesn't do graphics, but for reading the content with out the crud, it's the way to go. Disclaimer: My only Mac is a IIci, so I don't run OSX, however I do run FreeBSD on an Intel box. If it works on FreeBSD, there should be a good chance of it working under OSX ... I think. -- Dowe Keller dgk@igalaxy.net Please disregard the following crud. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |
