sharing folders?

Alright...I admit I'm a pc person but was all Mac up to 8.x. Here is my
deal.

A client of mine wants to be able to browse a directory under the hard drive
on their mac (10.2) from their PC (XP). I'm able to view the mac over the
network from the pc and access the shares that the Mac sets up by default:
home, public, etc. The problem is that the folder on the Mac hard drive has
to be at the root in order for a proprietary application to dump files to
it. I can not find anything on the web that says how to share out a folder.
I can place new folders under the default shares and see them from the PC
but can't specify what folders I would like to share. Am I missing
something very easy?

Any help would be appreciated. Googling it turns up very vague and little
information.

Thanks,
Diggler
