Icons in window title bar area

Hi-
I am running OS X (10.3.4) and ran into an interesting interface feature --
historically, if I wanted to drag a file into an open folder, I would drag
it to the title bar area of the folder's window to avoid it going into some
unwanted embedded folder. In OS X when I do this, it puts the icon of the
dragged file into the title bar of all windows! I now have 2 sitting there
-- kind of a nice short-cut as I can open the files from there, but how do I
get them off????

Jean

With a Finder window open, go to View | Customise Toolbar, then drag the
offending article off.

Thanks! I hadn't experienced "Customize toolbar" yet -- kind of neat!

To drop files/folders with the same effect as before, drag them onto the
sorting preference bar. (The part that says "Name", "Date Modified",
"Size", "Kind", etc.)

Doing this also lets you move from an internal folder (viewed via
turning the triangle) up to the current directory of the window.
