| Possibly OT: Apple LaserWriter 600 disappears from network... Hello all... I'm stuck. I have an Apple LaserWriter 600 printer that's plugged into an Appletalk connector, which goes to an Ethernet converter box. I've confirmed the converter box to be in good working order with a different printer. What's happening is strange. The printer may be good for a few print jobs, but after those few print jobs have executed, it totally disappears from the network. No Macs can find it and none of them will print to it. I had the same problem with an LW16/600 PS FAX and just started using TCP/IP to print with it. That has worked flawlessly, but I seemingly cannot do the same with the LW600. Is there anything I can do or try to make the printer be a bit more reliable? It isn't in a position to be replaced yet and when it works it works quite nicely. Any thoughts or help appreciated... I had a 16/600 at a previous employer's office. It had only one problem. We couldn't rename it. With the default name, it worked fine. Change that name and it would just drop off some random amount of time later. Try changing the name back to the default name. -- Walt Sellers Computer Engineer For Hire www.VirtualOutpost.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Meddle not in the affairs of dragons; for thou art crunchy and good with ketchup. -unknown =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
