| Mac I have a problem.... My son is handicapped and a local group gave him a PowerMac G3 running OS 9.1. Only hardware - no disks. I am trying to set his Mac on a wireless house network. The other two machines or PCs. But, when I tried to install the wireless USB adapter a window popped up and said the USB port had the wrong software. It requires 1.4.2 or higher, and this machine has only 1.4.1. I tried downloading a fix but that requires inserting the Install OS 9.1 disk - which I do not have. Anyway around this problem short of having to buy a full install disk? Or, does anyone have that OS they would be willing to sell? Thanks! |

You really need to have install disks in any event, and why buy something outdated? On the other hand if your son is quite used to OS9 and would have difficulty in adapting to a new OS, that'd be another consideration. In any event, clicking the apple and choosing :about this mac should tell you processor speed and installed RAM. John Mcwilliams |

It has several items integrated that make life easier. One member of my local user group (great resource btw) is legally blind. But she makes use of her OSX iBook by using the zoom feature to blow everything up so she can see it. She used it to give a presentation on GarageBand to the group. -- Walt Sellers Computer Engineer For Hire www.VirtualOutpost.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Meddle not in the affairs of dragons; for thou art crunchy and good with ketchup. -unknown =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
