| Help Viewer Using All of CPU after Installing Developer Tools on 10.3.3 I just got one of the new G4 15" PowerBook with upgraded video memory and hard drive speed. This is my first experience with the Titanium series and so far I've been very impressed (and that 1.5gHz processor with 512MB RAM really kicks butt over my old G3 (Pismo) PowerBook with 256MB RAM). Anyway, enough bragging; one of the first things I noticed in speed of this machine was the speed of the Help Viewer application. Last night I installed, among other things, the Developer tools and now when I open Help and type in a search I never really even get back a blank screen and I've noticed that it's constantly using like 90% of my CPU (I even saw 101% at one point too, so I think there's an issue with Panther's Activity Monitory). I've let it run for like 10-15 minutes and it doesn't get better (figured it might be indexing or something like that). Any ideas? Also, I noticed a Hardware System Preference that showed up after installing developer tools (the reason I initially headed into the Help Viewer). Anyone have decent documentation/description on what this System Preference is all about? |
