| Multiple Web Hosting on a Single IP address on OSX Server -How?? Does anyone know how to set up multiple domains on a single IP address in OSX Server? The Mac documentation and help menušs say it is possible BUT doesnšt explain how to set it up. A search on the internet only reveals how to do it using Windows and Apache, nothing at all about OSX Server (10.3). TIA David |

OS X server uses Apache. Follow the directions for Apache. -- Bev A. Kupf "The lyfe so short, the craft so long to lerne" -- Chaucer England go three up at Bridgetown! |

The OS X Server GUI gives you some good tools, but, alas, a GUI is still no match for the command line interface when it comes to really geeky stuff. What you're asking, is for now, really geeky. The good news is that if you're willing to lock yourself in a room for a month, you can probably figure it out. Sorry, but that's why people are called IT professionals. If anyone could do it, anyone could do it. Jeff K |

| Re: Multiple Web Hosting on a Single IP address on OSX Server -How?? I really couldn't disagree more. Apache is not that hard to learn, and what you're trying is actually rather basic. You can find your answers at www.apache.org in their documentation. Under OS X Server's Server Admin, go to the Web section, then find Sites, and just add extra sites by name - point them to each site's folder and you'll be right. Nothing complex for basic multiple domains. | Re: Multiple Web Hosting on a Single IP address on OSX Server -How?? Well, I guess it all depends on your familiarity with the command line. I realize it is not rocket science, but it does take a bit of trial and error. FWIW, i was being a bit sarcastic. You have to admit that diving into unix is a far cry from the typical GUI experience. And what the original poster is asking, while basic to a unix savvy user, is not going to be like pointing and clicking. It will take time to figure out. Now, I wouldn't feel like responding to your snotty reply, but coincidentally, my 24 year old secretary did just that, following my instuctions - over the phone - in 20 minutes. When was the last time ( is ever) you used a Mac? Now go play with your terminal, hope it will take you less than a month to figure out what I'm trying to tell you. j. |
