| Sharing external firewire drive Hi, At my office, we use an external FireWire drive connected to an iMac for short term storage and sharing of files. The iMac's running Mac OS 9.2.2. Everybody that wants to use this disk logs in with the same name and password. The disk has been shared by placing it inside the shared items field of the file sharing control panel. This is the only disk people can acces by logging in, the other partitions in the computer remain invisible to them. The problem now is that more and more people use Mac OS X nowadays, and they encounter problems when they want to copy files with long filenames to the shared disk. I have installed Mac OS X on a seperate partion on the iMac and would like to achieve the same functionality as described above. So users should be able to acces the external disk with a log-in name and a password (which should the same for everybody) without being able to acces any other partition over the network. Is this possible? Kind regards, Jasper |
