23" Cinema display help

Hello,

I just got the 23" cinema display for use with my G4 that has the
ATY,Rage128Pro card, and use the DVC-AVI converter to connect.
However, the display only comes up during boot-up(I'm using Panther
10.3). Once it starts to load the extensions, the screen goes dark.
I've tried installing the "display software" that the display came
with, but it says that it's already installed. The machine works with
the old 17"(space-consuming) monitor, but not with this flat panel.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? I assume it's a s/w issue because
I'm able to see the initial boot-up screen(white with the Apple logo).
I scoured the newsgroups and Apple's support site to no avail. Any
ideas would be most helpful.

Thanks!

If you check the System Requirements section of the specs page
<http://www.apple.com/displays/acd23/>, you'll see that the Rage 128 Pro
is not on the list of compatible graphics cards for Cinema Display 23.
It just doesn't have enough memory for all those pixels. The cheapest
card you could use would be one with an nVidia GeForce2 MX; but you
would have to get it used (eBay, etc) as it's long out of production.
AFAIK, the cheapest card you can buy new that would drive the Cinema 23
is the Radeon 9000 Pro ME at about $170.
