I know it's a strange question, but does anyone know if any of the
original Macintosh developers were of Jewish origin? I'm guessing Andy
Hertzfeld probably was, but any ideas about Jef Raskin, Susan Kare or
Alan Kay?

You'll forgive me for being a little wary of such a question, but I've
only just recently discovered (thanks to Mel Gibson and his mentally-ill
father) just how deep anti-Semitism still runs in this country.

And the fact that Gibson grew up in Australia, and basically
denounces anti-semitisim means nothing apparently.

Exactly. Has Gibson EVER said "I hate Jewish people"? I don't think so.

As it happens, yes. However, the question was meant from an ethnic
point of view, not a religious one. I was interested in the social
history and contributions of Jewish Americans as a culture group, just
like Italian Americans, Polish Americans (such as Steve Wozniak), Arab
Americans (including, by birth, Steve Jobs) and even Australian
Americans (e.g. the tolerant Mr. Gibson).

I didn't say Mel Gibson was anti-semantic, Mr Reading Comprehension
Problem. I *did* imply that his dad was, though, and it certainly seems
that way to me reading his web site (Gibson's dad's web site).

What I actually *said* was that Gibson's film (which I have no real
opinion on either way except that I hear it's pretty gorey) has caused
me to discover how deep anti-Semitism runs in this country (being the
US).
